The Price of Conformity

The individual of low self-esteem, confronted by an inability to conform in their heart to the general values and belief systems of their society, reacts in despair. The self-confident individual tends to display anti-social tendencies that are misinterpreted as a symptom of some disease or maladjustment.

This puts increased pressure upon the individual's self-image. Most people in these circumstances eventually break down and lose these values.

Society thus loses a possible source of enrichment.
